As a Probationary Firefighter, I’m doing everything I can to impress the members of my company. Knowing I’m the first in my family to be educated makes me proud, and gives me hope for the future.

I hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else, especially with a southern small-town breathing down my neck. One night, on a dark mountain road, I help the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life change a flat tire.

What I don’t know, is she’s the youngest daughter of my Chief. His number one rule? Don’t date his daughter’s.

Rookie is relatively confusing story for me. Miss Briscoe does not put anything special or plot that makes Rookie memorable.

My impression is: a story/ book where I forget what is the content once I put it down. Not memorable. Not a story that I want to follow again or read the next book.
The characters also boring and confusing. The dialog and conversation is bland.

Anyway, moving on..

I have previously enjoyed books from Laramie Briscoe and have been eager to dive into Rookie since hearing about it years ago. It’s a story I went into expecting to find another series I would devour, yet Rookie did not work for me.

For me, Rookie was far too quick and underdeveloped. There were many elements in this one that had the potential to be highly addictive, to cover many aspects, yet none were taken as far as I had hoped. Things were touched upon and handled easily, and I kept waiting for there to be something more. As it was, I never felt any connection to the characters or the story. In fact, the only time I did feel something was when I was annoyed with the male lead. There was a flashback – a lengthy one at that – which detailed him being intimate with another just before meeting his instalove. I know this is a big no-no for most people, yet I don’t usually mind it all that much. With this one, however, the fact it was so long and detailed (especially when compared with the intimate scenes between the main characters) left me feeling yucky.

All in all, this had the potential to be great, sadly it did not work for me.

It’s no secret that I am one of Laramie’s biggest fans and let me tell you that this new series is going to make me an even bigger fan.

The characters are beautifully written, and in true Laramie fashion you fall in love instantly not just with the main characters but the whole supporting crew as well.

Danny and Hayden are so perfect for each other, and you feel it from the first time you meet them.

If you haven’t read anything by this author before, this is a great start.

Rookie the first book in the new Bradford Station series by Laramie Briscoe.
This standalone interconnected new series promises to be hot 🔥. OMG....I'm excited for this new small town, fire department series!!!!!

Rookie is Danny and Hayden's story. Danny is the newest firefighter for Station One, the rookie, nicknamed "Rook". Hayden the Chief's daughter, who has one rule for his daughters, "Don't date my guys" and one rule for his guys, "Don't date my daughters".

Danny is an all-around "good guy". He works hard at his job as the station's rookie while balancing his desire to be someone his family is proud of, and the town can respect. Hayden has finished college and decided to move back to town. She is working to identify herself and overcome her insecurities. When she is struggling with a flat tire on a dark, rainy evening, Danny stops to offer help. There is an instant spark between the two that cannot be resisted. But what happens when they realize who they each are to her father......they break the one rule that the people they hold in the highest regard has.

This was a sweet, low-angst sizzling hot story. While reading I felt that there were topics that were leading up to possible tension, but didn't. Resulting in a book that was much more than the usual drama. The story was more than a secret romance story, there was an underlying element of two characters finding themselves. I enjoyed the secret romance between Danny and Hayden as they developed their relationship and sought out opportunities to see each other. Of course in a small town they didnt manage to be too secretive 😉. There were times I felt like I was sneaking around with them. Just the anticipation of her dad finding out kept me turning the pages. The way he found out was entertaining. The respect Danny gave to his Chief during this scene was a perfect fit for his character.

Rookie is a great start to a new series, I am already invested in the seeing the other characters stories unfold. I have a few unanswered questions that I hope are expanded on in further books.

This is the first book in a new series and it was absolutely freaking amazing! I loved Hayden she was such a good character, I loved her laid back but take no BS attitude and Danny was such a sweetheart. The story itself was well written and such a beautiful read. I’m excited to see what’s next in the series.

I can understand where Laramie Briscoe was trying to go with the story. I just felt like there were a lot of forced moments and conversations that were unnecessary. It was an insta love story, but the dialogue was just super cheesy throughout the whole book.

The only thing for me to give this book a one star, was that the hero was a firefighter and there were lots of moments where you actually saw him in action. I really enjoyed reading those moments, because a lot of the times in romance books you don’t see them actually doing their job. You also got to see him learning the ropes, and learning from his peers.

This isn’t your typical firefighter story. Sure, we have danger and camaraderie and the joking expected among the crew, but this is a lot more also. Danny and his family give us a close look at narrow minds and closed hearts, while Hayden and hers give us the worry of a single dad who did his best. And that best may need to let up a little when Hayden and Danny find each other!

I loved the fact that Danny didn’t shy away from Hayden, but he also didn’t forget that he needed the approval of more than just her or her sister. After all, her dad is his chief. But communication is key and Danny excels at it! So much so that the blip after a huge fire makes Hayden realize that she may have to pull his fears out of him in creative ways.

This is a great start to a series and I can’t wait for Cameron and Natalie to tell their story!

Danny is a rookie firefighter who is determined to show the Chief and the people in town that he is worthy of the job. He has often felt like an outsider as others didn’t feel her father was worthy of her mother and that included her family. When he stopped to help a woman change a tire he was drawn to her in a way he had never felt before but finding out later that she was his Chief’s daughter made her off-limits.

After finishing college Hayden has returned to her hometown and is trying to determine what happens next. A chance meeting with Danny and she can’t stop thinking about him but between the emotional turmoil of her past and her father being his boss is the reward of being together worth the risk?

There was no denying the chemistry and connection between Danny and Hayden, and I enjoyed seeing them realize that what they shared was special and worth fighting for.

This was a good read. Danny is the Rookie and Hayden is the chief's daughter. They begin a relationship together. You would expect their to be trouble considering who her father is. However, they got lucky and it all went smoothly and they got their happy ending.

Rookie is the first book in the Bradford Station series of contemporary romances.

Rookie fireman Danny is six months into his training. He wants to make his family proud while doing an important job for the town he lives in. One evening he stops to help a young woman change her punctured tyre. She catches his eye until she realises who she is; the chief’s number one rule? Don’t date his daughters.

Hayden is returning to her small town home after being away for four years at college. She boldly gives Danny her phone number and starts flirting with him. It leads to a date and they try sneaking around behind her dad’s back, but you can’t hide for long in a small town.

I liked Danny, Hayden and the small town atmosphere. The setting of the Tennessee / North Carolina border gave the story some extra depth. While I thought that there was just enough introduction of other characters too, to make the next book in the series appealing.

Ooh, a new series of characters to fall in love with. Hayden and Danny light up the pages. The men of Bradford Station are going to be a force and of course all of the strong sassy women that love them. Hayden the Chief's youngest daughter is a spitfire and goes after what she wants. Danny feels he isn't enough because he comes from the other side of the tracks but love doesn't discriminate and Danny and Hayden fell in love on first meeting. Their story ended with a smile on my face and a need for more!

Laramie Briscoe books are hits or misses with me, Rookie was unfortunately in the miss category. Don’t get me wrong, Danny and Hayden were okay, I just didn’t really connect with them or their story. I will say I really hated the one scene in the beginning with Danny and another woman, it added nothing to the story. The blurb was also kind of misleading - they didn’t really stay away from each other at all after they met and the big fire doesn’t happen until the last few chapters. I thought that was going to be a bigger part of the story. Other than that, the book needs some editing work. At one point the POV switches from Danny to Hayden back to Danny.

This is Danny and Hayden’s story. Danny is a Rookie firefighter and Hayden’s dad is the chief. Yep… Danny is conflicted as his interest grows for Hayden but he has an allegiance to the department he doesn’t want to mess up.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with Danny and his family. They kept this story filled with heart touching details and upped my desire to know more.

Hayden, her sister, and dad showed the challenges a family faces after being abandoned. As someone who had similar feelings, I was able to connect to the story in a magical way.

Our couple know how to spice up the page. Wink wink. I don’t always understand the taboo of liking a dad’s daughter or brother’s best friend… but having said that, I still really like this story.

Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

I so loved everything about Danny and Hayden, especially Danny, he has such a unbelievable heart and it hurt me that he thought he wasn’t good enough for Hayden cause of his background but his love and soul exuded from the pages and Hayden wasn’t about to let him think he wasn’t the best man ever cause she is!!!! But her dad has a policy for anyone that works with him, no one goes near his daughters but Danny and Haydens fate was sealed the moment they met

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

As a Probationary Firefighter, I'm going everything I can to impress the members of my company. Knowing I'm the first in my family to be educated makes me proud, and gives me hope for the future. I hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else, especially with a southern small-town breathing down my neck. One night, on a dark mountain road, I help the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life change a flat tire. What I don't know, is she's the youngest daughter of my Chief. His number one rule? Don't date his daughter's. I try to stay away from her, try like hell, but when a forest fire threatens our town, and the guy in my company, I know I can't let her walk away from me. Not without a fight.

This is the first book in the Bradford Station Series from Laramie Briscoe. If hot firefighters are your thing then you will want to read this book. I have read may Laramie Briscoe books and she always writes her boys in blue or red really really well. I've been married for a long time to a fire chief and a police officer. Well, that sounded funny but he is one person just loves public service all his life. I don't think there is anything good about when a firefighter or police officer is written about and it is just unbelievable in there actions and the way they think. But that doesn't happen with her books.
This one is the story of Danny and Hayden. He is the newest firefighter in the station. A Probie, or a firefighter that is new and on a probation period. He is stationed out of station one and his chief makes it very clear to everyone that they are never ever to date any of his daughters. But the don't date my firefighters rules also apply to his daughter and he has no problem reminding anyone of his rules. Hayden just so happens to be on of his daughters. Danny is a hardworking, learning a lot as a probie and his real one true desire is to be the man his family and the town he loves so much can be really proud of. Hayden however is newly finished with college and has decided to come back home instead of staying away. The girl sure does have a whole lot of insecurities and is working hard to overcome those but when she is struggling with a flat tire on a dark rainy evening, Danny is the one who stops and offers to help her. Immediately there is an attraction and the sparks are flying every where. These guys have some serious chemistry too and I loved that about them so much. But one thing leads to another and before you really know it you have broken the one rule that was never meant to be broken. How in the world do you see each other again when you realize what you have done? Well.....you might just have to sneak around and this is where for me this book really shined. I felt like I was a giddy young lady again only this time I was sneaking around for something wonderful. I was always so afraid of disappointing my parents to ever sneak around so to get to enjoy it through a book was just amazing to me. There is so much more to this story but I have probably told you more than I really should. I loved this book though and had the best time reading it. What a way to kick off a new series!!! I can't wait to see whose story we get next. Don't worry though there isn't a cliff in this one it is a standalone and a complete book too.

This is the start of a new series taking place in Tennessee and we get to know the firefighters in this small town. The first up is the rookie who is Danny.

Danny comes from a hispanic family that owns and runs a lawn service in town. His mom is related to the mayor but she was disowned when she married the guy from the other side of town, Danny's dad. Danny helped out a few days a week and also works withe fire department full time.

Hayden is back home after college when she meets Danny. Her father is the fire chief and is Danny's boss. His one rule is to never date his daughters. But the attraction between Danny and Hayden is s strong that these two fall hard and fast.

This was wonderful story with a hint of a forbidden romance. I loved watching Hayden and Dannyy flirt and fall for each other. I also loved Hayden's sister and the other fire fighters introduced in this story.

There was one small scene in the book that didn't even have much to do with the plot that I did not like. I guess there is a nightclub when men go to have sex and Danny has a favorite girl and right before he met Hayden, he went there. The author also describes them having sex and I hated reading that scene. I mostly skimmed that scene and honestly it did not have much to do with the plot in the story except maybe to say this was Danny's kind of sex.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

OMG I'm the happiest person in the whole wide world because I discovered LARAMIE BRISCOE!
ROOKIE was my very first book of this author and definitely won't be my last!
This wonderful book is the love story of Hayden and Danny.
Well Danny is a firefighter (a really hot and irresistible firefighter) at Bradford Station and when a beauty young woman has a problem with her car of course he's there to help... and that's the real problem: the first time Danny sees Hayden? There's an instant attraction! BUT she's the Chief's daughter and totally off-limits! Ooops!

Awwwwwww!!
I DEVOURED THEIR STORY!
OMG I fell in love with Hayden and Danny the same way both fell in love!
THIS BOOK WAS SO HEARTWARMING, EMOTIONAL, INTENSE & BEAUTIFUL!
I really really really loved the connection between Hayden and Danny! They left me with goose bumps so many times! Aww!
OMG and the whole storyline! BRILLIANT!
To be with them from the first meeting to the end of this book! It was awesome!
And guess what? Now I want to move! Maybe there's a hot single firefighter for me too?
LOL
A really really good book and one of my favourites in 2022!
And a BIG BONUS is epilogue 2! ;)
It's about the two characters of the next book.
I ABSOLUTELY CAN'T WAIT and need to check out the books of Laramie Briscoe!

Thanks a lot to Laramie Briscoe and Grey's Promotions for this ARC.

*3.5-4 Star Rating*

This is my first Laramie Briscoe book, so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of writing style and character building. Each author has their own way of crafting a story, but I assumed a few things knowing that this was going to be about firefighters. I wanted that brotherly camaraderie where you know there's going to be lots of laughs, but at the end of the day, they would lay down their lives for each other.

I felt like the stars were aligned for this story. It was set in a picturesque small town. Danny is from the wrong side of the tracks, but he's working to be someone. Hayden's back in town because she's missed the charming lifestyle that Bradford provides. All of the elements were there for a sweet romantic story. As you start to read, it's easy to see that the past is very much present. I liked that these characters had issues, but I wanted them to work together and come out stronger on the other side. It just seemed like the secondary plot lines didn't have a resolution leaving a dark cloud over the whole thing.

For me, this was a solid 3.5 star rating story. I don't think I would have thought about continuing the series, except there was a snippet of book 2, and my curiosity was piqued. However, book 2 will make or break if I continue on.

What an awesome start to a new series from Laramie Briscoe. This new series takes place in Bradford Station and focuses on the guys of the fire dept in the small forest town. Who doesnt love a hot firefighter romance?!
Hayden is the Fire Chief's "little girl" and comes with the unwritten (but widely known) rule of off-limits to all her dad's firefighters. Well Danny, the Rookie of Bradford Station Number 1 doesnt know who the woman is that he helps on the side of the mountain road one day. Why not ask the beautiful woman on a date? Well by the time full identities are known the flames have combusted and there is no turning back for either of them. I loved how this book has a little bit of everything, firefighter, secret, small town romance, the bomb when daddy finds out about the relationship, along with the threat of danger.
The realness of this small town and its residents struggle with forest fires and the dangers they pose and what you live with when a forest town is where you choose to make your home & life brings this book to an entire different level because of the mirror personal experiences. Not so patiently awaiting book 2. I received an advanced copy to leave my honest opinion.

This was my first read for author Laramie Briscoe, this was a great quick read with a lot of colorful characters that I know will be more developed in future books and some great romances. This story focused on Danny the "Rookie" of the local small town fire station and Hayden the fire chiefs daughter whose come back home.

Danny is a hard working guy, not only trying his best as a rookie at the fire station but helping his father in his landscaping business. He never seems to have a breather and would do anything for his family. He also has ties to the Mayor whom shuns him and his family even though they are family. But he meets Hayden whom he helps on the side of the road and its an instant spark.

Hayden has come back home after taking a job back in her hometown after college. When she meets Danny she feels something instant with him, however her fathers rules of not allowing his guys at the station to date his daughters lingers in the back of her head. So should Danny and Hayden take the risk?

Overall the is a quick read, very low angst and some small suspense. For me the side characters, like Hayden's friend and Danny's fellow firefighter kind of stole the show. I wanted to know more about them all and the future books. Danny and Hayden needed a little more development and time, I wanted to know more about Danny's mothers family. One bit that bothered me was Danny's past lover seemed like an important character or element and then never touched on. I wanted to see Hayden grow more now that she's home. Their secret romance was hot and their connection fire, but they didn't want to hurt the most important person which was Hayden's father and chief. I loved the respect they both had for Hayden's father. In the end I looked forward to the next book and more from Briscoe.

I absolutely adored this read, Danny and Hayden were perfect together. In this book Danny is a hardworking Firefighter while also helping his father’s landscaping business a few days a week. He grew up in a small town where his family was constantly judged and condemned because his father was an immigrant so he suffers with his own self confidence. It broke my heart how heavy other’s judgement weighed on him and held him back when it came to trusting his gut and being confident in his hard work. When he meets Hayden he is instantly smitten with her but when he finds out she is his chief’s daughter he knows he should stay away if only his feelings didn’t run too deep. Hayden knows her hometown is where she belongs and coming back she meets Danny who she knows is not like the other guys she has dated, now she has to decide to tell her dad or keep them a secret. This was super steamy, emotional, and fun read with great side characters. I loved that Hayden was great for Danny and he was perfect for her. I can’t wait to see where this group takes us from here.

The premise for Rookie sounds so amazing. Small town romance featuring a rookie firefighter and the chief's daughter? What's not to love?!

The base of the story was good. Danny and Hayden piqued my curiosity, and I did like the secret dating storyline. I loved their meet cute, and even their next meet up after that.

There were a few aspects that I struggled with. It seemed that bits of the story were just forgotten. Or the parts that I had wanted elaborated on were simply glossed over. Ultimately I'm left with more questions than I have answers.

Did I enjoy the story? For the most part I did. Again, the basics of the story were good. It just didn't feel complete in my opinion.

Danny and Hayden are ‘not allowed’ to be together because of Hayden’s father who also happens to be Danny’s chief too. I say ‘not allowed’ like that is going to stop them. Their secretive time together just makes this book so much more fun to read.

Danny is a good guy and a great firefighter. His character and his journey was inspirational – he’s trying to be the best person he can be and not compromise his values along the way either.

Hayden wants to find herself and no longer allow her insecurities to rule her mood, behaviour and the way she lives her life. I can definitely relate to Hayden in so many ways. There is something about her that makes me see myself in different ways. She’s an interesting character for sure!

I love the start to this series and I’m already needing the next stories and seeing everyone else’s journey to their happy ending as well.

This is the first in a new series and is Danny and Hayden’s story. Danny is a rookie firefighter who works hard to prove himself in the station, and Hayden is returning to her hometown after college when she has a flat tire, and Danny comes to her aid. Hayden is the fire chief’s youngest daughter, and he is firm in his rules that his daughters are off limits. These two have some challenges to overcome, but they compliment each other perfectly. This is a beautifully written well-paced slow burn story, which has a tad angst, tension, family, and love, which leads to an entertaining and sweet addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Another amazing read by Laramie Briscoe! I can already tell this new series is going to be awesome!!

Danny and Holden are perfect for one another! They understand each other like no one else ever has. The only problem is he is the new rookie firefighter and her dad is the fire chief, but nothing can stop true love. This romance was so sweet. No unnecessary drama, just two people who met and got to know one another. Ugh, their romance was so hot and sweet!!

The writing was outstanding, like always. You immediately fall in love with the characters and the minor characters as well. I cannot wait to read the rest of the stories.
