I love this series! From the first chapter it hooks me in with the story. I also love stories that make me laugh out loud (and get those crazy looks if I'm in public) and this is one of those! :) Great book! Great Series! I'm on edge waiting for the last two books...then I think I'll re-read the series (yep that kind of series one that I'm willing to re-read)!!

Another Home Run From Mindy Klasky

This is the seventh book in Mindy's Diamond Bride Series. Each of the books involves a player for the fictional Raleigh Rockets. Mindy has been working her way through every position on the team and this time we get the story of Left Fielder Adam Sartain. Adam has been the spokesman for the team for awhile so he has had brief parts in previous stories. The other side of the equation is his long time friend and neighbor Haley Thurman.

Now you understand the basic premise of the series. There will be attraction, there will be sparks, a little bit of steam then there will be a problem and everything will work out in the end. In other words one of the basic romance tropes. What I have enjoyed about this series is seeing the imaginative settings that Ms. Klasky has developed for each book and each couple. Most seem to be torn from todays headlines. She seems to be an astute observer of the human condition as well as having a very good understanding of the genre she is working in.

It is a pleasure to watch an artist work. Mindy capably yields the printed word like an artist would wield a brush. She deftly colors the world she created and gives you a view into it's characters lives. While these are short reads the characters are well developed and you understand fully their motivation and their thought patterns. These stories succeed in delivering both entertainment and a certain amount of satisfaction that things have resolved themselves as you would have wished. Like most talented authors I tend to marvel at her ability to continue to come up with new and compelling characters.

Each story is complete in itself and it is not necessary to read the whole series to enjoy any of the individual books. That being said if you are a fan of this genre you are going to want to read them all. She has begun putting them out in boxed sets of three. Not to mention you should check out some of her other works as well. I am a fan of the Jane Madison series which is how I discovered her as an author.

While I found Mindy from the paranormal genre, I have found that I enjoy all of her work and was happy for the opportunity to be an advanced reader for this series. Having said that I was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

Haley Thurman has lived next to Rockets left fielder Adam Sartain her entire life and they have shared everything with each other including their lost love stories. So why is that now after 32 years, she realizes that he is a sexy hunk and she definitely wants to move forward from bosom platonic friends to intimate lovers. However, before their relationship can really take off, they realize that they are competing for a piece of nearby farm property that would benefit their own business interests. Haley wants it to expand her pet rescue and adoption organization, Paws for Love; Adam wants it for his Foundation for kids, BUNT. After an initial disagreement, they agree to compete for the funding to bid on the farm property. Will this business venture come between their newly discovered romance? This is the 7th book in the Diamond Brides series and as with the others provides an enjoyable, romantic story. Each book can be read alone or in nonsequential order as it features different Rocket players and their love attractions. I was selected to read and review Mindy Klasky's September's book release, From Left Field through LibraryThing. This is book seven in the Diamond Brides series and the eighth was just released on October 4th. Each book focuses upon one of the players from the Raleigh Rockets, a professional baseball team located in North Carolina. The two main characters of this story are Adam Sartain, the left-fielder for the Rockets and Haley Thurman, the executive director of a local animal rescue organization. Adam and Haley grew up together, and have been neighbors and friends for over 30 years.

I am a huge fan of this series and look forward to each and every new book Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this installment as much as the others that I have read so far. To begin with, I did not feel a heated chemistry between Adam and Haley, just a meaningful, long-standing friendship. Secondly, Adam's actions caused me to stop caring about him both personally and professionally. And lastly, I found Haley's ability to forgive and forget to be completely out of character for her.

I must mention that I love the way Ms. Klasky writes a story, with clear and well thought out scenes and descriptions. Her fluid writing style is easy to interpret. I am looking forward to reading Center Field, the next book in the series.

Haley is trying to save more animals by buying the farm for sale behind her home. Adam long time friend & baseball star needs the property to develop so he can regain some of the money stolen from his foundation for kids by his missing manager. In a battle of wills they try in vain to protect their friendship but end up in a physical relationship that they both fear will be the end of everything. Adam ends up hurting Haley badly & coming closer to the deadline for their bids for the property he has a decision to make. Will he make the right one?
